The journey that has led me to Oxford Community Schools began in Cypress-Fairbanks Texas, where I taught special needs preschool children.  During that time, I served as building department chair and volunteered as a Special Olympic swim coach.

Upon returning to Michigan, I taught special education preschool for the Utica Community Schools and three other districts before securing a teacher consulting position for Oxford Community Schools.  Under the direct leadership of Allen Jones, we created a birth to three special needs program for both Oxford and Lake Orion.  This program still exists today and is known as the LAMBS program, providing services to children birth to three years of age at Lakeville Elementary School.

As the Director of Special Education for Lake Orion Community Schools, my responsibilities included developing programs for severely emotionally impaired students, serving as a negotiating team member, developing programs for at-risk readers, coordinating 504 services for the district, providing professional development at the local, county and state levels, and serving as the President of the Special Education Administrators of Oakland County.  In addition, Grosse Pointe Public Schools appointed me the Director of Special Education and Principal of Children's Home of Detroit.

I am grateful for the opportunity to return to Oxford and combine my expertise in special education with my passion for the general education curriculum into one collective effort for the community of Oxford.
