August 2013

I started my career in education in 2002 after spending time in the Business and Marketing industry. Prior to Oxford, I taught Business Education and Yoga at New Haven High School. I also was the CTE Coordinator, Business Professionals of America Advisor, School Store Advisor, Work Based Learning Coordinator, and Varsity Competitive Cheer Coach. In 2009, I was humbly named "Teacher of the Year" and in 2013, conference and district "Coach of the Year."
In 2018, I was one of 12 educators chosen to be a part of the Saginaw Valley State University Gerstacker Fellowship Program. I spent the year at SVSU receiving concentrated leadership training by their faculty from various disciplines on subjects such as organizational leadership, ethics, finances, communication, human resources, entrepreneurship and education with a global perspective. This experience added tremendous value to my professional development and learning. As the culminating experience, I had the fortunate opportunity to travel abroad to Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
Here in Oxford, I fulfill the Director of Career Focused Education position. At OHS, I am responsible for the State Approved Career and Technical Education programs. This position entails completing all required state and federal funding reports for the district, writing curriculum, developing and applying for new programs and ensuring that our CTE programs meet all local, state and federal guidelines. In addition, I assist with district budgets, purchasing, grant management, career pathway planning, and post-secondary follow-up. At the district level, my responsibilities include K-12 Career Focused Education implementation and curriculum planning. My focus is aimed at helping to implement a framework to aid both students and educators in making those meaningful connections to college and career readiness. Education is my passion and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to help our students plan and prepare for the "next step" in their lives.
I am happily married to my husband and fellow educator, Joe and we have two children, Shawn and Ivalee, along with my step-son Thomas who also attend Oxford Schools. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, running, practicing yoga, traveling, and reading.
