Free Food for Kids

Free Food Program

Our Nutrition Service staff have worked incredibly long hours to provide the Free Feed our Kids Program this week. The program has run very smoothly and provided thousands and thousands of meals for so many this week.

In order to minimize the risk of COVID-19 exposure, an adjustment has been made to the number of days per week food distribution will occur. Beginning on Wednesday, March 25, meal distribution will only take place on Wednesdays for the remainder of the school closure.  Take-home bags will include breakfast and lunch meals for seven days.

As a reminder, locations and times of meal distributions are:

  • Curbside at Oxford High School at the front north entrance from 10:30 am- 12:30 pm
  • Mobile delivery in front of the Lake Villa Clubhouse from 11:00 am- 11:30 am
  • Mobile delivery in the Oxford Elementary parking lot from 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm

Additionally, PLEASE stay in your vehicle and if possible pop your truck so our staff can place the bags right inside of it for you. It is vitally important we abide by the recommendations not to congregate and to avoid contact with one another to mitigate any possible COVID-19 exposure.

At this point, many other school districts have now been able to institute free food programs for children in their area. In fact, there are now more than 1,000 sites across the state providing a free food program for Michigan children. If you know of families outside of the Oxford area in need, please share this list with them for closer options https://www.mcgi.state.mi.us/schoolnutrition/.
