August 24, Follow-up to OCHD Mask Order

Dear Wildcat Nation,

We, like many of you, were surprised to hear the mandate from Oakland County Health Division the day before school begins in our district. We have been requesting and waiting on guidance from OCHD all summer. We are concerned about our ability to implement this in less than 24 hours. Many families may not have this information in time for tomorrow or might have medical issues that require documentation that may take some time to acquire.

We have been preparing for our students for months and tomorrow we will open our doors to welcome them into our buildings. Please know that while we strongly recommend student compliance with the order, your child(ren) will not be turned away if they are without a mask nor will they be required to wear one this week. All staff and visitors in our buildings will be required to mask up effective immediately.

We plan to adopt this mandate in its entirety beginning Monday, August 30. Our school board is arranging an emergency meeting later this week. At this time we will not be transferring any students between our schools.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow - let's have a great first day back!
