February 11, OCHD to Lift Mask Mandate

Dear Wildcat Nation,

The Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) announced today the requirement to wear face masks in K-12 schools and daycares will end on February 28, 2022, when OCHD rescinds the emergency order 2021-1.

In making its decision, OCHD cited it "weighed several factors to determine the appropriate time to end the mask requirement in schools, including a sharp decline in new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations and increasing vaccination rates in Oakland County." We have seen that drop reflected in our own district data as we currently only have six active cases reported.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Oxford Schools has followed the OCHD requirements and considered guidance and will continue to do so. Beginning February 28, the decision to wear masks while in any of our District buildings will become an individual choice for our families and staff.

Thank you for your continued partnership in the health and well-being of our students and staff.

OxfordStrong,

Tim Throne
