January 5, Tentative Plan on OHS Return

Dear Wildcat Nation,

In the last few weeks, our team has read hundreds and hundreds of emails submitted by our families to [email protected], listened to countless voicemails, and worked with numerous experts with extensive experience on the effects of trauma and how to return after a traumatic event.  Before our telephone town hall tonight we want to share with you our tentative transition plan for the return of our high school students that has been created based on all of this gathered information.  We look forward to getting more of your input tonight and tomorrow as we work towards finalizing our plan.

As we have said before, we know it is imperative to get our high school students and staff back together as soon as possible.  Wildcats, we will need to work together as a school community to make this happen for them sooner than later.

With OHS not ready to be fully opened yet, we have created a  two week alternate hybrid schedule for our Oxford Middle School and Bridges students in order to share the OMS building with our high school students and staff. The alternate hybrid schedule will be in effect beginning Monday, January 10 - January 21. Each principal will send detailed plans and schedules to all OHS, OMS, and Bridges families later today.  We hope this slow transition together at OMS will help in the healing process and ease our high school students back in a familiar academic setting.

Elementary families, during the hybrid weeks Jan. 10 – 21, the morning elementary orchestra and band programs will not be meeting on Tuesdays or Thursdays due to facility constraints.

Renovations to OHS are scheduled to be completed during the week of January 17. Our tentative plan is to host three open house opportunities for our OHS students and families to visit the high school together before we transition back to the building the week of January 24.

At this point, the athletic portion of the high school is ready for our athletes to return. Our high school athletic practices will resume at OHS on January 10. Please know all other areas of the high school will remain inaccessible while it is open for practices. We will begin to host athletic competitions again beginning January 24.

We thank you in advance for being flexible in your routines to help our OHS Wildcats on their return. We look forward to sharing more information with you and hearing your ideas, concerns, and feedback in the upcoming telephone town halls.

Together we are OxfordStrOng,

Tim Throne
