Dear Oxford School Community,

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Lapeer Community Schools for their decision earlier today to change the method of the starting device used in the Regional Track and Field meet this coming Friday.  It brings us great comfort and relief that the traditional starting pistol will not be used during the meet where we will have dozens of high school students competing who may be traumatically affected by this noise. Instead, Lapeer Athletics will be using the Clarion LITE Electronic Starting Device that Oxford Athletics purchased this winter bearing in mind the sensitivities our students would be facing during their healing journey. We understand it was a difficult decision to make as it affects hundreds of athletes competing around our region.  Oxford Community Schools appreciates the tremendous compassion and understanding that has been extended to us by our neighbors to the north.
