November 12, Weekly COVID Update

Weekly District COVID-19 Update – Friday, November 12, 2021

Good afternoon, Wildcat Nation!

A few weeks ago, Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute reached out to us requesting to visit our district for a project they are working on in regards to student-centered learning.  On Monday, they spent the day in Oxford.  They held discussions with our administrators, teachers, and students, and toured several of our buildings at all levels to observe our curriculum and how our teachers implement student-centered learning.  They gave us overwhelmingly positive feedback, sharing that of all the major school districts nationwide they have visited, many revered as the pinnacles in providing the best education, they have not seen any that measure up to Oxford and all that we offer!

It was refreshing to have educationally minded conversations and hear outsiders’ perspectives to remind us of all we have to be so proud of in our district. With all of the anxiety in our community around COVID, masks, and vaccines, let us not lose sight of the fantastic work being done to achieve our mission with our students. Our fall athletic teams have had such a great season, concerts and dance performances have been back on stage and fabulous, and the fall play is performing this weekend- if you have not seen it, don’t miss out.  At the end of the day, our focus remains to help each student achieve their maximum potential providing excellent opportunities to learn and grow.

In regards to our weekly COVID numbers, as you can see below our COVID case counts are on the rise. We want to take this opportunity to thank our families for being so vigilant and transparent regarding your observations of any COVID-like symptoms. We appreciate your partnership in keeping our buildings safe and our staff and students well. We want to remind you that the Oakland County Health Division is responsible for determining close contacts to cases and for communicating quarantine information to students and staff.

Go Wildcats,

Superintendent Throne
