Sept. 16, Update to School Board Vacancy Posting

Dear Oxford School Community,

An electronic method to submit a notice of interest has been added for potential applicants. See the highlighted text below.

As communicated earlier, on September 14, 2022, President Tom Donnelly resigned from his seat on the Oxford Community Schools Board.  With his resignation, Vice President Chad Griffith is now the acting president until otherwise voted upon by the school board. Moving forward, by law and according to the School Board Policy 0142.5 on board vacancies, the school board has 30 days to appoint a qualified individual from the community to fulfill the remainder of this term, which in this situation is December 2024. 

The policy states:

  1. The Board shall seek qualified and interested candidates from the community through the news media, word of mouth, and contacts with appropriate organizations.
  2. All applicants are to submit a notice of their interest, in writing, to the Superintendent. (deliver to Superintendent Weaver, 10 N. Washington St. Oxford, MI 48371 or email [email protected])
  3. The Board may interview all interested candidates to ascertain their qualifications.

Appointment by the Board to fill a vacancy shall be by majority vote of the full Board.
