Dear Clear Lake Families,

Tomorrow, Wednesday, 10/29/25 we will be having our annual AED/Cardiac safety drill. This safety drill reviews the Standard Response Protocol language of "Hold" in classrooms/areas while the Clear Lake Cardiac Team attends to a pretend medical emergency. The Standard Response Protocol language allows students and staff to learn common language while allowing flexibility in the protocol depending on the situation or emergency occurring. This drill is also facilitated with the Oxford Fire Department, so you may see their vehicle on campus.

By law we are required to run three drills related to safety/security, two tornado drills, and five fire drills during the school year. After drills are conducted we always document on our Clear Lake webpage and sent through School Messenger.

We would also like to remind families that we have PTO FUNd Run top prize winners being driven to school tomorrow by Oxford Fire Department and Oxford Village Police as well as on Thursday this week. Again, their department vehicles will be on campus during arrival.

This is a reminder that tomorrow morning, 10/23/25 is Picture Retake Day! This is for any student that was absent on picture day or any student that needs to have their picture retaken. Please email or send in a note with your child to confirm with their classroom teacher.

We could use two more volunteers to help with picture retake day. Volunteers will be picking up/dropping off students to and from class as well as assisting in the picture retake location. Dear Oxford Families,

I want to take a moment to share something important with you. We’ve put together a very short video (just 2½ minutes) that explains what will be on the ballot this November. I implore you to watch it. It has even helped me, as the district superintendent, to better understand the proposals, and I hope it will help you feel informed as well.

Absentee voting has already started, and Election Day is just around the corner on November 4. If you find the video helpful, please consider forwarding it to friends and family who live in Oxford, or sharing it on social media if you’re comfortable doing so.

There is still time to register for the free 2025 Parent Education Fair that is November 1st, 2025! This conference style event is a great way to connect with other Oxford parents, caregivers, and local community resources. The breakout sessions are designed around current topics that we as families are looking to build knowledge and additional tools in our caregiver toolbox. This is in addition to welcoming back keynote speaker, Judy Malinowski, who speaks about the "anxious generation" and tips for navigating the challenges of smartphones, technology, and how it might impact mental health in adolescents. Free childcare for infants through age 12 at OELC is also available! The North Oakland Community Coalition (NOCC) has also generously donated a $200 Amazon gift card to the school with the most parent/guardian attendees!

The State of Michigan has adopted a new state budget that includes continued funding for free breakfast and lunch for all students this school year.

We still encourage all families to complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application each year. The information provided through these applications helps determine eligibility for various supports and funding that benefit both families and schools.

Benefits of Completing the Application include:

• Free or Reduced-Price Meals: Direct financial assistance to families if the universal free meal program is not renewed in the future.

• Discounts on Educational Activities: Possible cost reductions for AP exams, field trips, and after-school programs.

• Other Student and Household Support: Access to programs that provide food assistance, school supplies, and holiday support.

• Increased Funding for Schools: Additional funding through programs such as Title I, which supports all students.

• Eligibility for Other Programs: The application can help determine eligibility for other state and federally funded programs.

Families can complete the application online or request a paper copy from their school office.

Why it matters: The state provides funding based on student attendance.

We reached our whole-school FUNd Run goals of $10,000 and $15,000—thank you!
Snack Shack will be open during lunch recess.
Our recess DJ will be playing music to celebrate.
