🌿🎉 Marcie Bensman, advisor for the Leonard Elementary Green Team, has led our 2nd-5th grade Leonard Elementary students to an amazing achievement! The Green Team decided to apply for the Green Prize, a competition in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties that awards prize money for projects impacting the environment and community.
After brainstorming and voting, the team decided to create a lasting sensory garden using earth-friendly and recyclable materials. Their hard work paid off, as they won the highest honor award! This generous grant will allow them to bring their sensory garden vision to life with all the bells and whistles!
We are thrilled to share this fantastic news and are looking forward to seeing what they can do with the sensory garden. A big thank you to the Detroit Zoo for personally delivering the check along with Mrs. Bensman, Mr. McDevitt, and three of our fifth-grade team members.
A special shout-out to Mrs. Bensman for her leadership and dedication to our students. This isn’t the first time she has gone above and beyond to bring incredible opportunities to our school, and we couldn’t be more proud of her and our Green Team! 🌱✨
