Presentation screen for ASD Center Proposal

Oxford Community Schools is continuing to move forward in exploring a countywide Center-Based ASD Program in collaboration with Oakland Schools. The proposed program would be funded by Oakland Schools and would serve students across the county, including those within our district. Our goal is to keep the community informed and gather feedback as the Board of Education considers this opportunity.

At last night’s Community of the Whole meeting, Executive Director of Special Populations Pam Biehl and Director of Special Education Programs Jessica Taylor shared a detailed presentation and answered questions from those in attendance. We appreciate their clear explanations and their commitment to engaging with the community throughout this process. We also thank Michelle Saunders, Executive Director of Financial Services for Oakland Schools, for attending the meeting.

A video of the presentation is available below. Because only the presenters’ microphones were connected to the recording equipment, audience questions are summarized in a document below so the full conversation can be reviewed. The presentation slides are also available in PDF form for anyone who would like to take a closer look.

We are grateful to the families and staff members who joined us and shared their perspectives. Your engagement supports thoughtful decision-making.

Ms. Biehl and Ms. Taylor will share additional information about the proposed center-based program at the regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting at 7:00 p.m. on December 9th at Oxford Middle School. Community members who would like to learn more or offer feedback are encouraged to attend.
