OCS Triangle

We are delighted to announce a significant development that will greatly benefit our students and the wider community. Following the passing of a Board Resolution on December 9, 2025, Oxford Community Schools is moving into the final stages of our application to construct and operate a specialized Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Center-Based Program right here in our district.

This ambitious project is being undertaken in full partnership with our Intermediate School District, Oakland Schools, who will provide the full funding for the construction of the center.

What Does This Mean for Our Community?

This center will establish Oxford as the host for a high-quality program designed for students across the county with more intensive needs.

  • Benefit for Oxford Students: Currently, students requiring this level of support would face lengthy daily commutes to the southern parts of the county, if such a comprehensive program even existed. This new center eliminates those long drives, allowing our resident students to receive intensive, specialized services close to home.

  • A County-Wide Resource: While benefiting Oxford students most directly, this center will serve students with intensive needs throughout the county.

  • Long-Term Cost Benefit: This tuition-funded program allows us to share the cost of offering a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) with other districts. By hosting the program, we achieve a significant long-term cost benefit by efficiently pooling resources to serve all students who require these intensive services.

Next Steps

Oakland Schools’s Board of Education will vote on January 13, 2026, for final approval. After this, you can expect to see construction begin quickly on the OEIC campus (775 W. Drahner Road, Oxford).

We are planning to welcome our first cohort of students, including our own resident students, to the new center for the 2026-2027 school year!
