The event featured current Tigers staff members who spoke with students about the importance of being bilingual in the baseball industry, with a special focus on careers such as athletic training. Students also enjoyed the game between the Tigers and the Kansas City Royals.

They juggle so many different responsibilities, from supporting students, staff, and families, to organizing daily operations, solving problems on the fly, and making sure everything behind the scenes runs as it should.

First graders wrapped up their Economics Unit with an exciting Market Day! 💰✨
Students at DA became real-world producers and consumers as they worked together to sell goods and services they created themselves. They put their learning into action using key economic concepts like wants, needs, goods, services, scarcity, and profit.
Students could only spend classroom-earned money they had worked for over the past several weeks, and earning it meant showing responsibility as a student. It was a fun, hands-on way to bring economics to life!

Celebrating Brian Gohs as our Maintenance Support Person of the Year! 👏
Brian is an essential part of keeping our buildings running safely and smoothly. He oversees multiple facilities and consistently steps up wherever he is needed, day or night, whenever support is required.
Brian goes above and beyond every single day with a positive attitude and a true servant’s heart. He never says “that’s not my job” and instead leads by example through hard work, reliability, and integrity. He even went out of his way to become certified to take on pool maintenance, helping us successfully pass state inspections with zero issues.
His honesty and character shine just as brightly as his work ethic. Brian is a quiet leader who shows up, gets the job done, and supports our community in every way he can, including volunteering with student programs and concessions when help is needed.

These sessions give students a chance to explore potential career paths in a relaxed and engaging setting, and this one was a hit. 100% of attendees said the presentation was informative and that they would recommend it to a friend.

Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up, and we’d love your help recognizing our incredible Oxford Schools staff!
Please take a moment to share a message, and optionally a photo, to recognize a current teacher, counselor, bus driver, secretary, food service worker, administrator, paraprofessional, or other school staff member who has made a difference for your student. You’ll need to be logged in with a Google account to complete this Staff Appreciation Submission Form.
We’d love to receive submissions by Thursday, April 30, so we can begin sharing the following week. We can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to share every response we receive, but we will do our best to include as many messages as possible! Dear Leonard Elementary Families,
I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Leonard Elementary for the upcoming school year! It is a privilege to continue serving within Oxford Community Schools and I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Leonard community.
My journey in Oxford has been both meaningful and rewarding. I spent several years as a third grade teacher at Lakeville Elementary, where I built a strong foundation in supporting student learning and growth. I later served as an IB Coordinator at OELC, DA, and OES, and I am currently finishing the year there as an instructional coach, partnering with teachers and administration to strengthen instruction and student success. Each of these roles has deepened my commitment to creating positive, engaging, and high-quality learning environments for all students. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, a Master's degree in Educational Leadership, and endorsements in Early Childhood and Science.
As I step into the Leonard Elementary principal position, my priority is to build strong, trusting relationships with students, families, and staff. I believe that clear communication, collaboration, and a visible, supportive presence are essential to a thriving school community. Leonard Elementary is a special place and my goal is to ensure that we continue to be a place where every child feels safe, known, and inspired to learn.
On a personal note, I am married to my college sweetheart, Ben. We met at Western Michigan University (Go Broncos!). We have three children: Luke, who will be entering his junior year; Elle, who will be starting her freshman year; and Drew, who will be heading into 6th grade. Being both an educator and a parent gives me a deep appreciation for the partnership between home and school.
As I prepare to get to know your student(s) for the 26-27 school year, I have included an optional "Getting to Know You" form below for you to fill out. This is a way for us to initially connect and helps me understand each student’s unique needs, interests, and strengths. DA and OES turned March Madness into MUSIC Madness! 🎶🏀
Students went head-to-head in an epic Battle of the Decades, voting their way through rounds of hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and beyond. Even the teachers joined in on the voting! There were some major upsets, lots of strong opinions, and even more singing in the hallways!
After all the votes were counted, the champion was “Sunroof” by Nicky Youre.
It was such a fun and memorable way to celebrate music across generations!

Today is the last day to register for the free TERO (Threat Evaluation and Reporting Overview) training being offered by Oxford Community Schools for adults in the community. This awareness-based session focuses on helping participants recognize concerning behaviors or warning signs and highlights the importance of community involvement in violence prevention, while respecting privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties. Please note that this training does not provide formal threat assessment or threat management instruction. We invite you to register if you are interested in attending.

Their “Let’s Glow Read” challenge was a month-long reading goal where students set personal goals and worked together toward one big class goal—and they didn’t just meet it, they blew it out of the water with over 13,000 minutes read in March!
To celebrate, the class recently turned off the lights to enjoy all things glow-themed, including glow Jeopardy and math glow Jenga!

This new event, hosted by the Oxford High School Leadership Program, brings our community together to support both Varsity Baseball and Varsity Softball as they play at home.
Enjoy a free tailgate with hot dogs, chips, drinks, music, yard games, and face painting. This event is open to all ages, and we encourage everyone to come out and support these hardworking teams!

Looking back at Leonard Capstone, it was the perfect combination of student interests and curriculum! ✨
During this special event, students had the opportunity to research topics they are passionate about, write papers, and present their findings in fun and creative ways.
From racing quads and baking to dance and shipwrecks, students shared a wide variety of incredible topics! Guests also enjoyed an amazing 5th-grade art display throughout the hallways, showcasing student talent, and the event was kicked off with a wonderful song led by our talented music teacher. 🎶🎨
