Congratulations to Valerie Weckle, Clear Lake’s 2025–26 Teacher of the Year!

Mrs. Weckle has been part of Oxford Community Schools and the Clear Lake community since 2014. She spent the first seven years of her career as an intervention paraprofessional and has served as a 1st grade teacher for the past five years. Throughout her time at Clear Lake, she has consistently exemplified the district’s mission and vision by putting students first and leading with care.

Mrs. Weckle is a teacher leader within the building and is always willing to volunteer for curriculum initiatives, collaborate with colleagues, and continue growing her skills. Students, families, and staff share that her calm, positive presence creates a classroom where students feel safe, engaged in learning, and excited to discover a love of reading.

We are so grateful to have Mrs. Weckle as part of the OCS community and appreciate the incredible impact she makes each day.

Congratulations, Mrs. Weckle! 💙

Happy National School Social Work Week! 😊 We are incredibly proud to recognize and thank our School Social Workers (SSWs) for the amazing support they provide to our entire school community!

Our SSWs play a critical role in supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being. Their compassionate guidance, collaboration with families and staff, and strong commitment help ensure every student can succeed.

The 2026 theme, “Unite to Ignite: Celebrating Our Impact,” perfectly captures the difference our SSWs make by bringing students, families, and educators together to create a truly caring and inclusive school environment.

Please join us in the comments below to thank our School Social Workers for their dedication, care, and the lasting positive impact they have on our students every day! 👇

Lakeville’s Teacher of the Year is Lydia Thiele! 🎨✨

Mrs. Thiele creates a classroom where every student feels valued, seen, and celebrated. She takes the time to listen, offers meaningful feedback, and encourages her artists to stretch their creativity and elevate their work. From recognizing students at monthly assemblies to showcasing artwork throughout the school, she helps build confidence and pride in every learner.

With her positive attitude and thoughtful, kind, and inclusive approach, Mrs. Thiele meets students where they are and inspires each child to do their very best.

She is also a true team player, and joined the team to collaborate on a community outreach art program that highlights student artwork in local businesses and strengthens Lakeville’s sense of pride.

For all of these reasons and more, Mrs. Thiele is the art teacher every student deserves. Congratulations on being Lakeville’s Teacher of the Year!

🌟 Something truly special happened in Mrs. Harvey’s 3rd grade class. 🌟

When a student noticed her classmates could use a calming space, she didn’t just suggest it — she created it. She filled the new calming corner with handmade positive affirmations, her favorite pop-its (from her personal collection), uplifting signs, and breathing techniques, and even a cozy blanket from home, all so her friends could feel comforted and supported.

Her selfless actions remind us all how one caring student can make a world of difference!

Dear Oxford Community,

We are writing to let you know that 60 Minutes plans to air a segment this Sunday, March 1, that references Oxford High School and the tragedy our community experienced on November 30, 2021. They plan to revisit details of the events of that day, including images from inside OHS. We expect that this content will be intense for viewers, particularly for members of our community.

Because of the nature of this coverage, we recognize that it may bring up strong emotions and affect students in different ways. Some families may choose to watch while others may prefer not to. We hope this advance notice allows you to make the decision that feels right for your family and to have supportive conversations at home if needed.

Our schools remain a safe place for students to share their feelings and access support. Please reach out to a school administrator or counselor if your child would like to talk with someone. Additional mental health and wellness resources are also available through our website at https://oxfordschools.org/support.

Sincerely,
Oxford Community Schools

9th and 10th grade students participated in OHS's 3rd Annual IB Diploma Programme Shadow Week! During this time, students were able to observe and participate in two IBDP classes of their choosing, along with the DP Theory of Knowledge course. They also participated in a Q&A session with current IBDP candidates, all to gain a better understanding of how the IBDP may fit their educational goals.

If you or your student have any questions about the IB Diploma Programme, please contact the coordinator at julie.carman@oxfordschools.org.

There is still an informational meeting to learn more! A parent meeting will be held on March 4 at 6 p.m. in the OHS Media Center.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We want to hear from you!

Soon you’ll get an email with a link to our annual School Quality Survey. It will come from “Oxford Community Schools via K12 Insight” (
Tonya.Milligan@sogolytics-edu.com). It’s your chance to help shape our schools, not spam.

The survey takes about 10 minutes, is anonymous, and covers academics, student support, safety, leadership, parent engagement, and more. Families with children in multiple buildings can take it more than once.

Your voice matters!  The more parents who respond, the stronger our schools become!

If you don’t receive the survey (check spam first) or have questions, please email Dr. Gary van Staveren at gary.vanstaveren@oxfordschools.org.

This survey will be open through March 9, 2026.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
