🏛️ Our 4th graders from Leonard Elementary went to visit Lansing! They got to explore the Capitol Building and learn how our government works! They also visited the Michigan History Museum and got to experience our state's rich history in person! This Saturday, over 160 DK through 3rd-grade students and their families joined us at Oxford Elementary School for the First Lego League Explore Expo, a fun-filled day of STEM activities! 💡🤖. Students got hands-on with driving robots, button-making, and even decorating LEGO glasses—just a few of the exciting activities they enjoyed! 🛠️ Teams showcased their amazing creations and were thrilled to check out the incredible robots from our middle and high school robotics teams. Special shout-out to our older students for also stepping up as volunteers at each station to help make the day even more special! 🍀Ms. Hoke’s 4th-grade students embarked on a fun filled St. Patrick’s Day escape room adventure! Having to catch a mischievous leprechaun, these students tackled five ELA challenges, sequencing, vocabulary, word work, inferring, and identifying main ideas and details. Our OHS CTE Health Science students had a fantastic opportunity to tour different health programs at OCC Southfield. During their visit, they engaged in hands-on experiences at various stations, including: SIMS Lab, Surgical Processing, Surgical Tech, Ultrasound Tech, Radiology Tech, and Nursing PCT, and the CNA Lab! This immersive experience provided our students with valuable insights into the health science field and a glimpse into their future careers.⚕️ #OCSWildcats #WorldclassWildcats

Students in Mrs. Dorman‘s P.E. classes at Daniel Axford Elementary school participated in the ⚕️American Heart Association’s, Kids Heart Challenge this February. They surpassed their goal and ended up raising $14,500 for this great cause! Meeting their goal meant that Principal Boyd wore a 🦆 duck suit for the day, which went along with this year’s KHC theme. The kids loved it! Whether students took action by raising funds or not, everyone in the school was able to participate by taking part in fun jumping activities during P.E. class. This week, we had the honor of welcoming our three incredible All State Wrestlers—Luke Johnson, Gavin Lewis, and Cheyenne Frank—to Oxford Elementary! They shared their love for reading with our students as part of the March is Reading Month celebration. 📚✨ Our young readers were captivated as they listened to stories and learned about the importance of good sportsmanship and dedication in sports. These high school athletes also answered numerous questions and signed autographs for their young fans. They were even able to stop by to say hello to some of their former teachers! 🌟Seventh-grade students had an unforgettable experience in the media center this week as they began a creative and engaging preview of The Outsiders. Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Catherine Willoughby, K-8 Media Specialist, students truly brought the story to life. During class time, students: 📔Listened to an interview with the author. 📔Dressed up in period-themed clothing and took fun selfies. 📔Illustrated character drawings based on vivid descriptions from the book. 📔Watched a 1960s movie at a Drive-In featuring Paul Newman to capture the era's essence. 🥇🤼 Huge congrats to our wrestling champs! 🤼🥇 We had an amazing weekend at states with some big-time achievements. Junior, Cheyenne Frank, made history as our first-ever female state champion! Not only did she take home the title, but she also hit her 100th win—what an incredible milestone!
