We also want to make you aware that The Oakland Press is expected to print a story tomorrow with an inaccurate headline indicating that our millage proposal passed. Based on the information available to the district at this time, that headline is incorrect. The Oakland Press has shared that they plan to publish a correction on Friday. We apologize for any confusion this may cause.

Dear Oxford Community,

Early this morning, the unofficial combined election results from Oakland and Lapeer counties showed that our Operating Millage Replacement Proposal was not approved by voters. Because Oxford Community Schools includes voters in both counties, the combined results determine the outcome.

While these results are still unofficial, this is disappointing news for Oxford Community Schools. We are grateful to everyone who took the time to participate in the election and to the many community members who engaged with this process.

This proposal was intended to preserve funding that supports the daily operation of our schools and the educational opportunities we provide for our students. Although the impact is not immediate, this outcome requires the district to begin planning for the potential loss of approximately $7 million in annual operating revenue. We approach those conversations with great care because every decision we make is guided by a single question: what is best for our students and the staff members who serve them each day?

Should the current results stand, there will not be an impact on our schools or our employees this school year. The district administration and Board of Education will consider necessary budget adjustments for the 2027-28 school year. In addition, an operating millage proposal will be placed before voters again this November. We remain committed to keeping our families, staff, and community informed throughout that process.

Our mission has not changed. We will continue to provide a supportive, safe, and opportunity-rich educational experience while doing everything we can to support our students and our staff.

Tomorrow is Election Day.

Oxford residents, voting precincts were changed this year. To be prepared before tomorrow, please use the tools on this page to ensure you’re headed to the correct polling place. It may be different than the place you voted in November.

If you haven’t already voted, you can drop off your absentee ballot or vote in-person tomorrow. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Local elections are often decided by a small number of votes, and every vote helps shape the future of our community.

For Oxford and Addison Township voters, the location for early in-person voting is the Orion Township Recreation Center at 3800 Baldwin Rd, Orion Township, MI 48359. The hours for early voting are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. every day except for July 30 (voting hours on July 30 are 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.).

If you don’t vote early, please take a minute to decide when and where you’ll vote to ensure you’re ready on Election Day, August 4.

Election Update - What You’ll See on Your Ballot

As you prepare to vote in the August 4 election, please be aware that you'll see two separate school-related funding proposals on your ballot. While both would provide funding to Oxford Community Schools if approved, they are different proposals that serve different purposes.

Oxford Community Schools Non-Homestead Operating Millage

• Does not increase taxes on primary residences

• Supports day-to-day school operations

• Restores the current operating millage to 18 mills on non-homestead property and renews for ten years

• Operating millages have been part of Michigan’s school funding system since Proposal A in 1994.

Oakland Schools Enhancement Millage

• Applies to all taxable property in Oakland County, including primary residences

• Funding would be distributed countywide to public schools based on student enrollment.

• Oxford Community Schools would receive more funding than taxpayers in our district boundaries would contribute.

These are two separate ballot questions, and voters may vote on each proposal independently.

Election Update - Early Voting Begins Saturday

The August 4 Election Day is less than two weeks away, and there are a few important voting reminders to keep in mind.

Absentee Ballots

If you requested an absentee ballot and haven't returned it yet, it's too late to rely on the mail to ensure your ballot is received on time. Return it in-person to your local clerk's office or an approved ballot drop box. Absentee ballots can be turned in anytime through the close of polls on August 4.

Early In-Person Voting

If you haven't voted yet and prefer to vote before Election Day, early in-person voting begins this Saturday, July 25, and runs through August 2. For Oxford and Addison Township voters, the location for early in-person voting is the Orion Township Recreation Center at 3800 Baldwin Rd, Orion Township, MI 48359.
