Our school board meeting on Tuesday included some special guest presenters! First grade authors from Mrs. Don’s class at Daniel Axford Elementary stopped by to share the nonfiction animal books they’ve been writing. Their illustrations and presentations were impressive, and it was fun for the board to hear directly from our young learners. Great job, Alex, Alieena, Gabe, Harmonee, and Nate! 🐾📚👏

Our Kids, Our Community. Tackling Bullying Together- A Parent Workshop
Dear Oxford Community Schools Families,

You may see reports about an active law enforcement situation in West Bloomfield Township, approximately 30 miles south of Oxford. Authorities in that area have asked local schools and businesses in that area to shelter in place while they work to resolve the situation.

At this time, there is no threat to the safety of our students or staff, and all Oxford Community Schools buildings are operating as normal.

We remain in communication with local law enforcement and will continue monitoring the situation. If anything changes that would require one of our emergency response protocols, we will share that information with families.

Thank you for your continued support.

Lakeville’s third graders had a blast on their field trip to Rollhaven Skating Rink! As part of their force and motion unit, students participated in a hands-on STEM presentation and reverse engineered a roller skate. They wrapped up the day with skating, pizza, games, and a spirited sing-along of the Oxford Fight Song on the bus. Go Wildcats!

Lakeville’s Teacher of the Year is Lydia Thiele! 🎨✨

Mrs. Thiele creates a classroom where every student feels valued, seen, and celebrated. She takes the time to listen, offers meaningful feedback, and encourages her artists to stretch their creativity and elevate their work. From recognizing students at monthly assemblies to showcasing artwork throughout the school, she helps build confidence and pride in every learner.

With her positive attitude and thoughtful, kind, and inclusive approach, Mrs. Thiele meets students where they are and inspires each child to do their very best.

She is also a true team player, and joined the team to collaborate on a community outreach art program that highlights student artwork in local businesses and strengthens Lakeville’s sense of pride.

For all of these reasons and more, Mrs. Thiele is the art teacher every student deserves. Congratulations on being Lakeville’s Teacher of the Year!
