Each month, teachers select a student who demonstrates character traits such as being caring, principled, and a thoughtful thinker. Families are then invited to join us for a special breakfast before school, where our principal, Mr. Marty Kaye, proudly reads each student’s certificate aloud. It’s a meaningful celebration filled with lots of smiles! ⭐️

Hello OCS Community,

Oxford Community Schools is pleased to announce that we will be hosting National Threat Evaluation and Reporting Overview (TERO) training sessions. The first session will be offered virtually via Zoom on February 26 from 6–8 p.m. Registration is required in advance through this link: https://tinyurl.com/OCSFebTero. This session is free and open to all adults in the Oxford Community Schools community and is intended to raise awareness and support a safe school environment.

This introductory training is focused on awareness and education. Participants will learn how to recognize observable behaviors or warning signs that may be concerning, understand the behavioral approach to prevention, and learn appropriate reporting channels when concerns arise. The session emphasizes the importance of community involvement in violence prevention while respecting privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties. This training does not provide formal threat assessment or management instruction.

The training will be delivered by two Oxford Community Schools staff members, Dr. Allison Willemin and Melissa Kree, who are certified DHS “master trainers.” This is a distinction held by fewer than 450 individuals nationwide.

A second option to participate in this training will be offered in person and is planned for April 16 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. More details and registration information for the in-person option will be shared closer to the date on the district website and through OCS social media channels.

We appreciate your involvement in helping create a safe and supportive environment for our schools!

Sincerely,
Oxford Community Schools

Happy CTE Month! We are proud to celebrate the impact of Career and Technical Education at Oxford High School, where academic theory meets real-world application to give our students a significant competitive edge.

Driving Success by the Numbers:
79% Enrollment: Over three-quarters of our student body is currently enrolled in CTE courses.
336+ Industry Certifications: The Class of 2025 has earned over 336 credentials, proving their mastery of high-demand professional skills.

Beyond the Textbook:

In our labs and classrooms, students use industry-standard technology to master the complex skills required for high-wage careers. Our curriculum challenges students to move beyond passive learning to create, solve, and lead.

Expert Mentorship:
Our CTE staff members are more than teachers—they are industry veterans. They bring years of professional experience into the classroom, mentoring students in both technical mastery and essential soft skills like grit, communication, and ethics.
"Leading our CTE department is a privilege because I get to see the synergy between our expert staff and our ambitious students," says Lisa Butts, Director of CTE. "My goal is to cultivate a pipeline of talent that serves both our students’ dreams and our local industry's needs. We are building the workforce of tomorrow, right here in our hallways today."

Every month, Mrs. Niemi treats the Clear Lake staff to something special as a way to celebrate and thank them for all they do to support students. In January, staff enjoyed a “snow”da bar, choosing from pop and mix-ins like flavored syrups, cream, cherries, and limes. It was a hit with everyone and snow refreshing!

Dear OCS Parents and Guardians,

We are reaching out to share a reminder about federal immigration enforcement and how Oxford Community Schools continues to approach this topic. While recent news coverage has brought renewed attention to these issues, the district’s practices and legal obligations remain unchanged. Oxford Community Schools remains committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environment for all students, regardless of immigration status.

Our schools are legally required to educate all children and to protect student privacy. We will continue to:

✅ Ensure that immigration status does not affect a student’s right to education.

✅ Keep student and family information confidential, in accordance with federal and state laws.

✅ Require proper legal authority before sharing student records or allowing law enforcement access.

✅ Remind staff of established protocols to handle any related situations appropriately.

If you have any concerns or need resources, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to support all families. Thank you for being a valued part of our school community.

With gratitude,

Dr. Tonya Milligan

Superintendent

Mrs. Brennan and Mr. Ruch hosted a poetry slam! Students performed original poems about people who have shaped their lives. The celebration included jazzy music, light refreshments, and plenty of finger snaps! Mr. Ruch even picked a fun walk-up song for each poet, and some of our 8th grade WEB leaders joined as guest poets. We are so proud of our students!
