Happy Winter Break Wildcats!

Congratulations to Dylan Miller, who won 1st place, and Katie Allen, who earned 2nd place in the Oxford VFW Post #334 Voice of Democracy Competition!

To compete, Dylan and Katie wrote essays answering the prompt, “How are you showing patriotism and support for your country?” Post Commander Jim Hubbard and VFW Auxiliary Scholarship Chair Suzann Johnson visited to present them with medals and monetary awards.

We are proud of our Wildcats!

As part of our commitment within the new Oxford Community Schools Strategic Plan (Goal 2), we are actively revising and developing our Portrait of a Graduate (PoG).

What is a Portrait of a Graduate (PoG)?

The PoG is an aspirational framework that defines the essential skills, mindsets, and competencies our students need to thrive after they leave our schools. It looks beyond traditional academic achievement to focus on durable, post-secondary skills that are demanded by today's rapidly evolving workplaces. These can include things like complex problem analysis, resilience, communication, and innovative thinking.

In short, it’s our commitment to preparing students to be the knowledgeable, critical thinkers, and communicators our community needs.

We Need Your Input

To ensure our PoG truly reflects the needs of the future workforce and society, we are asking the entire community to complete a short, focused survey. Your responses, especially regarding the workforce skills and professional challenges you observe, will directly influence how we align our educational programs over the next five years.

The survey is structured to take approximately 5 minutes to complete and includes:

  1. A few quick questions about your connection to the community and the industry you represent

  2. Likert-scale ratings on the importance of key durable skills

  3. An opportunity for open-ended feedback on the biggest challenges our graduates face

⭐️ Please click this link to Access the Portrait of a Graduate Community Survey.

In addition to the survey, we will hold two in-person sessions to gather the community’s input. We will invite parents/guardians, staff, local business owners, and members of various industries.

The in-person opportunities are scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 1-3 pm or 5:30-7:30 pm.

If you are interested in participating, please register here.

Thank you for your partnership in preparing our students for a successful future.

Meet the Wildcat alum whose passion for education and athletics led him from Oxford to new opportunities across the country and back to Michigan to make a difference.

⭐️ Oxford Alumni Spotlight: Ryan Reason, Class of 2012 ⭐️

While at Oxford, Ryan was highly involved in Wildcat Athletics. He played football, baseball, basketball and competed in powerlifting. His favorite part of Oxford was the strong sense of community. Ryan wrote, “They truly care about developing you as a whole person,” and it shows in all he has accomplished.

After graduation, he earned his BA from Hope College in 2016 and then completed his MS in Educational Leadership at Arkansas State University.

During his time at OCS, Ryan shared that he had amazing teachers who pushed students to be their best, even on days when their best felt out of reach. He said Mrs. Katie Goetz inspired him to become a health teacher. He also shared that Mrs. Corbett helped build his writing skills, even when he did not want to write, and those skills carried him through both college and his master’s program.

Today, Ryan has carried forward the lessons he learned at Oxford. He is now a teacher and coach who focuses on student and staff wellbeing. He serves on the district and school wellness teams and coaches varsity football, seventh grade basketball and seventh grade track.

Words of Advice for Current Wildcats: Listen to your teachers. They care about you as a person and want to help you become the best version of yourself. Use them as a resource and enjoy your high school years. They go by fast and there is nothing else like them.

We are proud to celebrate Ryan and the incredible impact he is making!

Community of the Whole Meeting

Dear OCS Elementary Families,

We are aware that some parents and guardians are experiencing difficulties when attempting to access elementary report cards through the link emailed earlier today. In some instances, only the first page of the report card is loading; in others, the document is not opening at all.

PowerSchool employs a process called Document Management to prepare report cards for viewing and storing the file after the email notification is sent. Due to the high volume of report cards released simultaneously, it seems that the system is processing more slowly than usual. As a result, trying to access the report card immediately may lead to errors.

If you encounter this issue, please wait a little while and try the link in your email again later today or tomorrow. We understand this is inconvenient and appreciate your patience as the system completes its processing.

If you are still unable to access your child’s report card by tomorrow, please contact your building’s secretary for assistance.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
