🥗🍎 It’s National School Lunch Week, and we’re celebrating the incredible work of our OCS nutrition staff who go above and beyond every day!

To kick off the week, we want to highlight a great new addition to the cafeteria: a fresh soup and salad bar. It offers healthy, delicious options like crisp vegetables, proteins, and warm soups. Students are really enjoying it!

We are so appreciative of our nutrition staff for creating this wonderful option for our students. Your hard work makes lunchtime something students truly look forward to, and your efforts make a meaningful difference every day.

Thank you!

The State of Michigan has adopted a new state budget that includes continued funding for free breakfast and lunch for all students this school year.

We still encourage all families to complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application each year. The information provided through these applications helps determine eligibility for various supports and funding that benefit both families and schools.

Benefits of Completing the Application include:

  • Free or Reduced-Price Meals: Direct financial assistance to families if the universal free meal program is not renewed in the future.

  • Discounts on Educational Activities: Possible cost reductions for AP exams, field trips, and after-school programs.

  • Other Student and Household Support: Access to programs that provide food assistance, school supplies, and holiday support.

  • Increased Funding for Schools: Additional funding through programs such as Title I, which supports all students.

  • Eligibility for Other Programs: The application can help determine eligibility for other state and federally funded programs.

Families can complete the application online or request a paper copy from their school office.

Dear Oxford Middle School Families,

School will be in session at Oxford Middle School tomorrow, Thursday, October 9.

Here are some important updates for tomorrow:

  • Schedule: Thursday will be an “E Day” and Friday will be an “F Day.”

  • School Picture Retake Day will take place tomorrow.

  • A portion of the 6th Grade Blue Hallway will remain closed. To accommodate this:

    • Mrs. Daversa will report to Room 201

    • Mrs. Miller will report to the Media Center Lab

    • Mr. Stremersch will report to Room 218

  • Lockers 38–61 and 679–704 will be accessible with adult support.

Thank you for your patience today as we worked to address this situation. Overnight, a hot water line under a sink in a classroom developed a leak, affecting multiple rooms and hallways. A restoration team was on site this morning to remove water and clean and treat the affected areas. Dehumidifiers and fans have been running throughout the day and will continue overnight until the area is completely dry. Our maintenance team will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the building is safe for students and staff.

We look forward to seeing everyone back at OMS tomorrow!

Sincerely,

Oxford Community Schools

As we begin the first full week of October, let’s take a moment to recognize some recent accomplishments from our fall athletic teams.

Varsity Football defeated Lake Orion to win the “Double O” Trophy for the second year in a row. The final score was 41 to 34 in a hard-fought game played at Lake Orion. The Freshman and JV teams also earned wins over Lake Orion.

The Varsity Girls Golf Team won the Oakland Activities Association League Championship, which is a great achievement for the program.

The Varsity and Freshman Volleyball teams remain undefeated in league dual matches this season.

These accomplishments would not be possible without the dedication and leadership of our coaches. In honor of National Coaches Day, we want to thank each of you for the time, energy, and commitment you bring to our teams.

We are proud of all our Wildcats and look forward to what the rest of October brings!

National Custodian Appreciation Day

Dear Oxford Families,

As we get closer to the big homecoming game tomorrow night, we wanted to share some important details regarding the game and parade.

  • Homecoming Parade: Starts at 5:30 PM on Friday, October 3, beginning at Mill St., going north, then east on East St., and north on N. Oxford Rd. to the Oxford High School south parking lot.

  • Tailgating: Starts at 4 PM; you’re encouraged to park in the north lot as the south athletics lot fills quickly. No RVs allowed due to limited parking.

  • Football Game: The game against West Bloomfield begins at 7:00 PM at Wildcat Stadium. Students and staff can enter for free with school ID. Tickets for others are digital-only through the GoFan App.

  • All students must present a valid photo ID for entry into the stadium. A class schedule on PowerSchool will be accepted if needed, but a physical student ID is preferred and will speed up the entry process.

  • Safety Reminders: No alcohol, tobacco, or weapons are allowed on school grounds. Expect to go through the Evolv weapons detection system for entry. Only small purses and diaper bags are permitted, and they may be subject to search.

We hope you’ve enjoyed homecoming week and look forward to celebrating together tomorrow!

Go Wildcats!
