April 8, Concerning Phone Calls Investigated

Dear Oxford Parents and Guardians,

We wanted to make you aware, today the high school counseling office received three consecutive phone calls that were threatening in nature, the last of which was answered by School Resource Officer Detective Louwaert.  An immediate investigation ensued by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.  At this time, through their investigation the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has deemed the threats non-credible, and we are continuing on with our regularly scheduled school day.  Out of extreme precaution, we have requested additional law enforcement presence and security will be extra vigilant for the remainder of the day.

We have learned that several school districts across the county received threatening messages today as well that were different in content from our phone calls. Those differing threats caused a few districts to go into a short lockdown while their investigations were happening.  These districts are no longer in lockdown as their threats were deemed non-credible by law enforcement.

Sincerely,
Ken Weaver
Superintendent
