Dear Team O,
It is hard to contemplate the tragic events that occurred at Oxford High School. The evil that we witnessed has changed us forever. We continue to grieve and mourn the unimaginable loss and continue to keep those impacted in our thoughts and prayers.
As we attempt to move forward, each of us are dealing with this tragedy in our own ways. As I personally reflect, I have so many questions of my own but I want to share with you what I know for certain. I know the love you all have for our kids, each other, and this community. That love manifested in ways we never could have imagined this past week. I also know our kids NEED you, now more than ever! You make a difference, every single day. Some of you might be questioning how you will be able to do that. Although I don’t have the answers for you, my entire human resources department and I want to help in any way we can.
As we begin our plans to return to school and support our kids, you may also want to seek support. We have been working with our benefits consultant and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan to compile a list of resources available to you as well as how to access these resources. The attached documents outline resources available to you now. BCBSM has worked behind the scenes to ensure prompt access to trained mental health professionals.
To talk to a Blue Cross mental health professional by phone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:
- Blue Care Network Behavioral Health Department: 1-800-482-5982
- Blue Cross PPO line, answered by New Directions: 1-800-762-2382, press #1 to request direct access to a mental health professional.
Additionally, the Life Assistance Program through Guardian is available to all district employees and immediate family members, regardless of insurance status.
Please know that we are here to assist in any way we can as we find a way to move forward. If you have ANY questions, please contact any of us. We are ready to help and connect you to any resources you might need.
We don’t know what the days and weeks ahead will entail, but I know we will get through this together.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
