May 8, Guidepost Solutions First Report Released

Dear Oxford Schools Community,

We have just been made aware from Guidepost Solutions, the third-party independent investigation company, that tonight, May 8, 2023, the first part of their two-part report has been released. The report was released to the district and to the public at the same time. This extensive report shares a detailed analysis of the current threat and suicide assessments and physical security measures that Oxford Community Schools District has in place. The report shares Guidepost Solutions’ assessment of the current practices that the district should continue implementing, practices we can transition away from, and suggestions on improvements that can be made.

The full report is posted on Guidepost Solutions’ website https://guidepostsolutions.com/oxford-community-schools-board-of-education-independent-investigation/ and on the Guidepost Solutions run website that is also linked on the front page of the Oxford Community Schools website:  https://oxfordresponse.com/.

Guidepost will hold three public meetings on Thursday, May 11, 2023, for our Oxford community to address questions regarding its findings and recommendations. Below are listed the locations and times of Thursday’s meetings:

  • 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM: Oxford Township Board Room, 300 Dunlap Road, Oxford, MI 48371
  • 3:30 PM– 5:00 PM: Oxford Middle School Cafeteria/Commons, 1420 Lakeville Rd, Oxford, MI 48371
  • 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM: Oxford Middle School Cafeteria/Commons, 1420 Lakeville Rd, Oxford, MI 48371

Further details on these meetings are also located on Guidepost’s website listed above.

Oxford Community Schools District continuously strives to better its practices in providing a safe environment where students can receive an education that challenges them to achieve their maximum potential. We are appreciative for the assessment Guidepost Solutions has shared and will begin reviewing the 179 page report and their suggestions. Once we have reviewed the report and have determined what should be adjusted in our recovery plan, we will share that updated plan with our school community.

Sincerely,
Dr. Vickie L. Markavitch
Superintendent
