Sept. 19, Additional School Board Seat Vacancy

Dear Oxford School Community,

This afternoon, September 19, 2022, School Board Treasurer Korey Bailey announced that he is resigning from the Oxford Community Schools Board effective today.  We are very thankful for the years he has served our students and staff through the most challenging of times.

The term for Mr. Bailey’s seat ends December 31, 2022.  By law and according to the School Board Policy 0142.5 on board vacancies, the school board has 30 days to appoint a qualified individual from the community to fulfill the remainder of this term.

The policy states:

  • The Board shall seek qualified and interested candidates from the community through the news media, word of mouth, and contacts with appropriate organizations.
  • All applicants are to submit a notice of their interest, in writing, to the Superintendent. (deliver to Superintendent Weaver, 10 N. Washington St. Oxford, MI 48371 or email [email protected])
  • The Board may interview all interested candidates to ascertain their qualifications.

Appointment by the Board to fill a vacancy shall be by majority vote of the full Board.

As the school board is currently receiving letters of intent for individuals interested in applying for former President Donnelly’s seat, letters of intent for any individual interested in fulfilling the remainder of Mr. Bailey’s seat will now begin to be accepted as well. If you are interested in applying to fill this school board vacancy, please see the attached notification on how to submit a letter of interest for application.

Sincerely,
Ken Weaver
Superintendent
